Watches under the brand name Raketa have been manufactured since 1962 at the Petrovorets Watch Factory in Leningrad (ST Petersburg today). The factory is the oldest in Russia. It was founded byPeter the Great in 1721 as the Peterhof Lapidary Works. Raketa watches were produced for both Military and civilian use. It was founded in 1721 by Peter the Great, as the Peterhof Lapidary Works, to make hard stone carvings. The factory produced items made with precious stones for the tsar and his family. After the outbreak of the Patriotic War of 1812, what had become the Petrodvorets watch factory was reorganised to supply the Russian army with essential equipment, including weapons. The factory also provided the stones for Lenin’s Mausoleum, and the famous red stars which you can see on top of the towers of the Kremlin.
The factory began manufacturing watches in 1949 under the name Zvezda (star) and Pobeda (victory). In 1961, Yuri Gagarin made the first manned flight into outer space in the rocket Vostok 1 and the factory chose to commemorate this by renaming the brand Raketa

Correct watch using:
In order to start the watch, you need to rotate the watch crown clockwise until it stops.
!!Attention! This must be done carefully so as not to break the watch crown. Do not rotate strongly, do it gradually! After several times you will know approximately how many revolutions to make.
You are advised wind up watch fully ( but carefully! ) every day at the same time, in order to prolong term of operation.
NOTE: All watches we are selling are mechanical – it means, that every watch uses mechanical mechanism to measure the passage of time and no battery required.
